AI Sweden is Sweden’s national centre for applied artificial intelligence (“AI”) purposely established to accelerate innovation and research in the field. A collaboration between the Swedish government, public- and private sectors across the country, the mission is to bring value to Swedish society while strengthening our competitiveness. AI Sweden is therefor pivotal in ensuring that Sweden maintain its role as a global leader in technical development.
Development and application of AI brings forth a number of legal issues. An area of particular interest is the protection of data. How, and what type of data can, and should, be used? For obvious reasons there is numerous regulations regarding protection of privacy and intellectual property that needs to be taken into consideration. Who is responsible for the safety and quality of the data, on what terms is data donated and is it possible to combine commercial interests with the sharing of data?

MAQS’ specialist group within Digital Business works with AI Sweden on a regular basis, both supporting the organization in general as well as providing expertise in specific projects. MAQS is for instance participating with AI Sweden, Rise, Vinnova and others in a project partnering on Federated learning, a new way of machine learning with the potential to allow us to use sensitive data while complying with legal requirements. Our specialists have also had a pivotal role in producing the terms and conditions for AI Sweden’s Data factory, a corner stone in AI Sweden’s operations.
