Mats Romell has around twenty years experience providing commercial law-related consultancy, mostly to owner-managed business in a range of different industries. In addition to working in law firms and in court, he has also spent time in an accounting firm and in managerial positions, thereby gaining valuable experience. He was MAQS Managing Partner in charge of the Gothenburg office and Area Manager for Ernst & Young, also in Gothenburg.

Mats is part of the firm’s corporate group, and in that position he works largely with corporate law and transactions. He advises all types of legal entities such as companies and associations, and offers expertise on all phases through which these evolve, from formation and expansion to eventual potential insolvency and dissolution. Such phases also involve, among others, ownership changes, mergers, transformations from private to publicly listed, etc. Furthermore, he works with MAQS’ group on insolvency, and therefore acts as a receiver in bankruptcy and a liquidator, in addition to providing advice to companies that find themselves in crisis situations as well as to those that might be indirectly affected, such as business partners.

Finally, considering his expertise in the fields of sports and entertainment law, Mats is responsible for the firm’s hockey-related work (mostly with agents, clubs, and players) and for a part of its media based activities, often with management and event planning companies.
