MAQS advised Agrivind in the Kattegatt Offshore wind power transaction

Macquarie’s Green Investment Group (GIG) has acquired the rights for the Kattegatt Offshore wind farm, situated off the coast of Falkenberg in Sweden, from Agrivind.

Kattegatt Offshore is one of only three consented offshore wind power projects. Once operational, the wind farm is estimated to produce enough electricity to power the equivalent of an estimated 95,000 homes and to reduce Swedish carbon emissions by up to 49 kt CO2e emissions per annum.

Agrivind and its owners, Lennart Blomgren and Anders Schönborg, have since 1989 been a driving force in the establishment of onshore wind in Sweden. Agrivind was among the first in Sweden to realise the necessity of constructing wind power offshore. The work with developing the wind power project Kattegatt Offshore has been ongoing for 15 years.

GIG, which is a specialized developer and investor in green infrastructure, will continue to develop the Kattegatt Offshore project with the support of Wind Sweden.
