MAQS advises Siljansvik on acquisition of a majority stake in Kalmar Energi Försäljning

Siljansvik AB (publ) has entered into an agreement to acquire 51 per cent of the shares in Kalmar Energi Försäljning AB. The remaining 49 per cent will be held by Kalmar Kommunbolag AB.

The acquisition is carried out in connection with Nordion Energi’s acquisition of E. ON Sweden’s holdings in the Kalmar Energi group, relating to electricity grids, district heating, and fiber networks. As a result of the transaction, Siljansvik will become a new co-owner of the electricity retail business together with the municipality of Kalmar.

Kalmar Energi Försäljning AB supplies electricity to approximately 24,000 customers and accounts for around 70 per cent of electricity sales in Kalmar. The company is valued at approximately SEK 78 million on a debt-free basis.

Siljansvik is an active ownership and investment company focused on energy and digital infrastructure. The acquisition forms part of the company’s strategy to build locally anchored energy and infrastructure businesses together with municipal and regional partners.

The transaction is subject to customary approvals, including a decision by Kalmar City Council.
