MAQS assists Varberg Energi in the acquisition of the world's tallest wooden wind turbine

Varberg Energi has entered into an agreement with Modvion to acquire the world's tallest wind turbine with a wooden tower, offering the most environmentally friendly wind energy.

Behind the initiative is Modvion, which has designed and built the 150-meter-high wind turbine named Wind of Change. Varberg Energi is the buyer and will own the facility, making it the first wind turbine with a wooden tower built for commercial operation. All the electricity produced by the Wind of Change wind turbine will be purchased by Chalmers from Varberg Energi.

With the new wooden wind turbine, Modvion aims to demonstrate the benefits of building the towers in wood instead of steel; carbon emissions decrease, they are more profitable, easier to transport, and can be built taller than conventional towers.

Modvion was founded in 2016 and is part of Chalmers Ventures.

MAQS Advokatbyrå assists Varberg Energi in the acquisition of the Wind of Change wind turbine. MAQS team consists of Mikael Kowal, who leads MAQS' specialist group Renewables, as well as Cecilia Rossing, Ida Hillestad, and Anna Almroth.
